JHS Choral Handbook

The Lafayette Jefferson High School Choirs have been inspiring and entertaining audiences for well over a century, starting as early as 1898 with the Lafayette High School “Glee Club”. We have been recognized from coast to coast for excellence in choral sound and choreography as well as student-centered achievement in instrumental music and technical crew. Jeff Choirs are proud to be part of a thriving tradition of art and music-making in the Greater Lafayette area.

A Cappella had an amazing Zoom session today with Black South African choral composer and conductor @bongani_magatyana They learned an excerpt from his choral work AMABUTHO, in celebration of South African freedom fighter Oliver Tambo, and his return from political exile. Learning musics of the world directly from culture bearers like Bongani is so important and so easily accomplished with modern technology. What a great experience!!! ❤️🖤

Expressions will be performing at the RELAY FOR LIFE of Tippecanoe County at 6pm at the Fairgrounds. Dinner is available from Arni’s starting at 5pm at the Relay for Life.

Day Two of Camp Tecumseh was PACKED! Morning warmup and game, workshop sessions all day with brilliant instructors Nancy Bocek, Gianbari Deebom, Brent “Woody” Holland, Jeff Jordan, and Michelle Konow in acting, dancing, and singing, evening rehearsal, and a huge campfire complete with roasted marshmallows and s’mores!!! One more day and then it’s back home to Lafayette. What a great group of young people! 🥹❤️🖤

This year, we welcome members of the First Edition Class of 1988 for a one night only performance of I Dreamed a Dream and One Day More, the first “power ballad” in the history of show choir!
